The government has the role of identifying, assessing and mitigating the impacts of coal on the human and environmental factors. The government achieves this through its agencies, such as Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). Since 2006 Officials of MSHA have stated that an important preventative measure of explosions is ventilation (Friend, 2006). Ventilation could have prevented the above disaster in West Virginia. MSHA since 2006 has also stated that it currently does not have the authority to shut down any mine because of violations (Friend, 2006). Without giving the coal companies such as Massey the ultimatum of either increasing safety or shutting down, coal miners will continue to have casualties. The U.S. Congress has ignored these statements while unsafe coal mining practices has continued. It is the role of the government to protect the health and safety of the miners. Another anti laissez-faire policy the government should take is protection of the environment, for it is of national interest.
Governments all over the world have a duty, a responsibility and a commitment of protecting the environment. This can be achieved through enactment and enforcement of suitable state mining and reclamation laws. These laws should also ensure that the environment is protected during coal mining and that the land where coal has been mined is reclaimed adequately after coal mining. The private sector has the role of investing in clean coal technology and should be commitment and support the government initiatives of moving the nation towards greater sustainability and energy reliability (Glasson et al., 2005). As noted before the two recent coal mining incidents in China and U.S have brought about new concerns in coal mining industry. The private sector needs to play more ethical and central role to ensure security of coal mining through strengthening safety measures in their mines. If the coal mining companies continue to ignore the casualty costs, a universal, more costly, regulation will have precedent.

BCRC works directly with families and is proud to be a leader among Applied Behavior Analysis agencies.
- Applied Behavior Analysis is tangible, measurable, and concrete. It is backed by over 40 years of research and has been endorsed by the United States Surgeon General as the most effective treatment for individuals diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Through ABA, behaviors are addressed systematically by utilizing assessments and data rich behavior plans.
- The goal is to increase, decrease, modify or extinguish a behavior to improve the quality of life for an individual and their family.
- Applied Behavior Analysis can be used to treat a multitude of challenging behaviors. From tantruming and self-stimulatory behavior to language development and improvement of social skills, its applications are endless.
- B.F. Skinner was a Harvard professor and researcher of Psychology who spent his career immersed in the behavior of all living things. He was an author, therapist, and inventor who made countless contributions to the field of behavior analysis and coined the term experimental behavior analysis. It was through the inspirational work of B.F. Skinner that the professional field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) was created.
- “In 1938, Skinner published The Behavior Of Organisms, which described operant conditioning, or the process by which learning occurs as the result of selection by consequences of behavior. Skinner also discussed how antecedent stimuli, when correlated with the function altering effects of consequences, also alter future occurrences of that behavior. This is known as a three-term contingency (A-B-C), the basic unit of analysis of behavior, and was the first description of the discrete trial. In addition to describing the instructional trial, Skinner detailed the basic experimental methodology that led to his findings, which he termed the experimental analysis of behavior (EAB). Later applications of this science to education, and to other matters of socially significant behavior, by behavior analysts led to what is now known as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)” (Burk, 2000).

The requirement for businesses to provide a niche service is high. This is especially apparent in the highly competitive hotel and leisure industry. Taking an environmentally conscious approach is one such way. This approach most obviously benefits the environment but is an excellent marketing tool to help a business grow and attract new customers. Many businesses are looking at ways in which to be more environmentally aware green. One such way is by applying for the ISO14001 accreditation. The ISO14001 proves a company’s environmental credentials which enhances a corporate image. This accreditation actually saves the company or organisation money by reducing energy consumption whilst at the same time helping the environment.
The hotel and leisure industry is notorious for its energy consumption. There is the lighting, the washing and laundry, all the electrical goods within the rooms, the heating, kitchens and then Jacuzzis and swimming pools. All contribute to a huge carbon footprint but also high energy costs. The cost of electricity and gas has increased by 20 % in the last year which is creating a huge impact on the profits of a hotel or bed and breakfast. With the economy being in such a bad way at present and customer confidence in spending is decreasing, this industry can’t afford to put up its prices. After all, it is a highly competitive industry to start with.
Hotels have for some time now put notices in the bathrooms relating to the towels situation, in the bath if you would like them changing, on the rail or elsewhere if they are ok to be used again. This of course makes a difference if you think of how many hotels there are in the world but there is so much more that can be done.

Weather damage has been a typical occurrence all over the world. It strikes any moment that your properties can vanish in just a splash of an eye. Our vehicle has been a victim of natural calamities. Car insurances widely help in taking responsibility to settle the costs of weather damages. Comprehensive coverage is one type of car insurance deductible that centers on weather damage concerns of vehicles, cases of car getting hit by animal and other unrelated collisions. This insurance deductible shall cover the injuries of your vehicle and additional properties harmed.
It is favorable that comprehensive claims do not have an effect on your insurance premiums. But, filing comprehensive claims has limits according to the insurance company’s guidelines. Some companies permit a consumer to file comprehensive claims before increasing auto insurance rates. On the other hand, some insurance groups agree to engage to four or more claims before expanding your auto insurance rates. Knowing the borderline of your comprehensive claims will promote better understanding on the condition of your car insurance rates. Auto insurance groups review each claim filed. They study closely the flow of weather damage tendencies. This becomes their means in establishing auto insurance rates. Car insurance companies increase rates in most natural calamity prone areas so it is ideal to decide according to your financial capacity to restore injuries or to have your car insured despite of its increased rates.
Otherwise, a consumer can seek for the lowest rates to lessen the car insurance burden. However, least expensive insurance rates must also be reviewed before purchase. Bear in mind that your rates signify your character as a driver amidst the weather damages. Truly, the proliferation of weather damage strongly influences auto insurance rates. Residences with constant flooding, typhoons, heavy winds and severe weather conditions yield to raise premium in vehicle insurances. The growth of crimes in your area poses greater tendency of car napping. Auto insurance rates are then regulated by companies. Climate change has affected the lives of consumers and practically altered insurance policies. Since climate change was dominating, providers increased their rates to new clients. Furthermore, the active consumers shall experience an increase in auto insurance prices the succeeding time insurance standard is evaluated.
