Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in his address to the tribals of Orissa said that the rejection by the central government of environment clearance to a big bauxite mining project is a victory for the local tribal people. He congratulated the tribal people for their success in making their voice heard not only in Delhi but overseas as well. aEoeYour voice reached Delhi and it is you who saved your land. I did what I could but this is your own victory,. he said, putting stress on the fact that this battle was fought without resorting to violence. Recalling his last visit , he said that some tribal youth had come and told him that they were fighting for Niyamgiri Hills and whole tribal community had stood up for it because they worshiped the Niyamgiri Hills as their God and it was being taken away from them.
That day, he said, when they invoked their dharma, he was thinking of his dharma. Elaborating on his dharma, he said that aEoemy dharma says that each and every people of this country is equal; be they rich or poor, be they tribe or low caste. My dharma is that every voice, including that of the poor and adivasis should be heard and not subdued. He remembered his words of last visit when he had said that, “For the tribals of Kalahandi, there is a soldier in Delhi named Rahul Gandhi.” In his 10 minutes address he clarified what kind of development India needs today. He said that development must be inclusive and not selective, saying aEoethe centre’s move against the Vedanta project is not anti-development.He further said, aEoeDevelopment means that every citizen of India develops and share the fruit of development. Here, the tribal voice was being suppressed, but the central government heard the voice and came forward in support of them. Development does mean that every voice must have its expression and the rights of the weaker people not to be snatched by anyone.

The world of today has changed a lot from the perspective of entertainment and fashion, lifestyles and shopping malls. Many more shopping malls have been evolved in the recent years throughout the world to meet up the pressure of customers. A number of shopping malls, multiplexes, cinema halls have grown in the recent years which are getting more and more crowded as time is passing by. And people are not only roaming downs the galleries, but rather they are buying various items from these shopping malls to cater to their daily needs. And these malls or stores are equipped with large collection of various items which comes as urgent needs to customers. And the store-keepers always provide smile while packing the goods in shopping bags. These bags are either paper bags or are made of plastic which are actually adding values to the global warming. We, the general public, are providing our tributes to the global warming by using plastic or paper bags instead of canvas bags which are adding pollutions to our environment and we are equally guilty for this pollution. If we devote some of our valuable time to this great problem of today, then we can at least minimize some of the effects of global warming to our descendents.
We have a saying that says “Old is Gold”, and this saying is more than 100% true when it comes to pollution in our environment. In older days people live stronger and longer, this is because they intake all pure food and pollution was not an issue those days. And in current situations, our shopping bags are playing a major role in polluting our environment. The bags we use in shopping are made of plastics which we use to take to our home and throw it off our window or balcony and day-by-day are getting dumped in our locality. Doing this we are just adding some feathers to the global pollution and we are actually not aware that we are making the days of our descendants more vulnerable to live.

With the Chinese New Year 2011 is coming. Cold weather has persisted in China since the end of December last year, with snowy or rainy weather hitting most parts of China. The temperature in South China hovers around 0° C (32° F), while that of most North China is under 0° C (32° F). The National Meteorological Center (NMC) has issued that most of China will be persistently in grip of cold weather in following three days (from January 5 to January 7).
It is predicted that there will be slight snow or sleety weather in South China, like Guiyang, Changsha, Nanchang, Guilin, Chengdu and Chongqing. In central and north Guizhou Province, and south and west Hunan Province, the freezing rainfall (the rain that quickly turned into ice on the ground which has caused havoc in traffic of Guizhou, Hunan and Chongqing in past three days) continues but will not as severe as before. For North China, the obvious temperature drop happens in west Inner Mogolia, East Jilin Province and east Liaoning Province with the range is about 6° C (43° F), and north wind makes North China wintrier. In north Xinjiang Province and east Inner Mongolia, the highest temperature is still under -20° C (-4° F).
For travelers visiting in China these days, China Highlights has following tips to help them to get the most enjoyment out of their tours in China.

* Freezing rainfall and snow mantle play adverse impact in traffic, and travelers need to pay more attention to the highway conditions.

Sustainability is a term that has been popping anywhere and everywhere. Dictionaries define it through the root word “sustain” which means “to support, hold, or bear up”, or “to keep up or keep going”. As broad as the word may seem, it has been linked to its environmental essence. Environmental sustainability is probably its most widely recognized aspect. When we read or hear it, recycling and conservation immediately come to mind. A simple definition would be “improving the quality of human life while living within the carrying capacity of supporting eco-systems”. Short and simple, but what exactly does it mean? What can be the simplest and truest sense of sustainability for an average human being?
Googol Learning posted some definitions of sustainability as understood by children. One reads “Sharing what we have with others and not taking more than our share”. Another one goes “Making the world a better place for the future”. A funny but probably the most striking one reads “…is not just cleaning up your own room – it’s about keeping tidy an even bigger room that belongs to everyone!”.
The last one may be a very simple yet outstanding definition by analogy. We can try to gather, read, and understand numerous definitions, but there are so many that it becomes too confusing. So why not settle on the easiest one – one where everybody can relate to? It makes sense looking at the planet as a room – a big one where others dwell, so it needs cleaning, fixing, and maintenance.
Good thing numerous companies are now resorting to sustainability solutions to reduce costs and increase yield while maintaining eco-preservation efforts.
