Air Conditioners – Control The Climate

If the summer is too hot for you and the winter is too cold and you bought different devices for each season of the year. Air Conditioners combine the cooling and warming ability of an ordinary fan or an electrical heater. Since the middle of the 18th century scientists have been experimenting to rapidly cool an object. The first ones to achieve that were Benjamin Franklin and John Hadley by using ether alcohol to achieve temperatures beneath 0° C. In 1906 the first air conditioner was used, but its main function wasn’t to cool or warm the air, but to control the humidity of the air in a textile factory. Since then Air Conditioners kept evolving during the years to achieve the things they can do today. The most common Air Conditioners consist of an outdoor and indoor part and are just able to warm and cool the air by using a refrigerator system and heat-fan system installed in the indoor part of the air conditioner.

The outdoor part is used to suck the air in so it can be transferred by an isolated strengthened rubber hose to the indoor part where the air is either being cooled or warmed. Modern air conditioning systems can control the humidity of the air and automatically set their temperature depending on the outdoor weather conditions. Air Conditioners come in different categories depending on the place they have to cool or warm – they’re power to warm or cool is measured by their size in inches and the electrical power they consume.

Hybrid Remote Control Lawn Mowers Are Setting a New Standard in The Industry.

An independent study in 2001 stated, “mowing the lawn does the same amount of damage as driving about 100 miles in a car.” That does not include those who use 2-stroke weed eaters as lawn mowers on steep slopes, ditches, and saturated ground. The hybrid remote control lawn mower, such as the Southern RobotX SRX22T, allows lawn care professionals to increase productivity in those situations, while at the same time, reducing fuel consumption. The hybrid power system on these mowers reduce fuel consumption by 40%, in addition to keeping the battery charged during use. The lawn care professional usually don’t care about the M.P.G. on his mowing equipment. But, by giving them an alternative to 6 or 8 ozone eating weed eaters on slopes up to 70 degrees, they are able to increase productivity by using commercial grade green technology. It is a win-win situation for the environment, as well as the lawn care professional.

Another win-win situation is on the residential side of things. The residential models are benifiting the elderly and/or disabled people who, due to the physical demands of traditional lawn equipment, usually resort to having someone else take care of their lawn. Unlike most of us, a lot of elderly really do enjoy yard-work. And now, by using green technology, they are able to rekindle their passion for yard-work.

The practicallity of the hybrid remote control lawn mower is what sets it aside from the other, more environmentally friendly, mowers on the market today. The all electric push mowers are great for the environment, but have to use a 12″ fragile cutting blade due to the lack of power in the DC electric motor. The fully robotic mowers are also very environmentally friendly. They are not practical on most lawns, either. Not only do they use the same fragile blades, but you have to bury a wire, similar to the invisable dog fence, around the perimiter of the lawn. Slopes over 20 degrees are not recommended for the fully robotic mowers. However, if your lawn is less than 10,000 sq. ft., and you don’t mind changing blades ever-so-often and burying a wire around the perimiter; the all electric mower is the environmentally minded choice. The hybrid remote control lawn mowers have the perfect balance between being environmentally friendly and practical for most lawns.

You Can Now Build Your Own Solar Panel

With energy resources dwindling fast and global warming changing climates across the globe, more people look towards renewable energy sources for reducing their carbon footprint. However, even the most environmentally passionate person cannot pursue such endeavors without the proper financial resources. The professional installation of solar panels for home use can cost many thousands of dollars, so many resourceful individuals are turning to much less expensive resources that help you build your own solar panel.

It is possible to completely build your own solar panel, but for the most part, these panels are small and do not produce the wattage necessary to power more than a simple lamp and only for a couple of minutes. The most effective way to produce power from the sun, when you can’t afford to hire the professionals, would be with home solar power kits. These build your own solar panel kits come with everything you need to successfully build your own solar panel in the comfort of your own garage or yard.

Surprisingly, home solar power kits are not difficult to find. With large companies like GE producing these kits, building a solar panel is very affordable and offers a much quicker return on your investment than purchasing and professionally installing a home solar power system. In general the instructions are easy to follow, even for teens and children, and in no time you are on your way to your own solar power system.

If you are looking to build your own solar panel, there are numerous resources and guides available to help you through the process. By involving the whole family in the building process, every one will learn how a home solar power system works and exactly how the components are put together. Also, when you build your own solar panel, you are giving yourself the knowledge to expand your system on your own and the ability to adapt your current system to meet new design needs when necessary.

India Vision 2020 – Solar Is The Way To Go

In the wake of growing concerns over global warming, the Indian government is all determined to generate 20,000 MW of solar power capacity by 2020. The plan currently being formulated, assures that solar power will be cost-efficient by 2020.

Currently, the cost of electricity generated from solar photovoltaics is around Rs 15/kwh while coal-based electricity costs a meager Rs 4/kwh. According to the experts, this cost gap will be covered, because in the future the price of solar power costs will drastically decrease from Rs 150/watt now to Rs 30/watt by 2020. And moreover, increase in demand for fossil fuels in future will only lead to increase in its costs.

In the new world order, both India, and China, are emerging as the economic powerhouse. So naturally, the demand for coal, oil and gas will be all time high in both these countries. According to a report, India’s dependence on imported oil will be exceeding by 90 percent by 2030. The demand for coal will predictably will be billion tonnes by 2030. Moreover, much of the coal reserves fall in the protected forest areas, so mining in the areas is next to impossible.

China has even larger demands-oil over 15 million barrels a day and coal demand of over 800 million tonnes- and so a massive price rise seems to be an inescapable reality. And God forbid, if a turmoil ensues in Gulf and in case green groups put a restrain on Australian coal supplies, then naturally the prices of fossil fuel-based electricity will shoot up and will cost more than Rs 4/kwh by 2020. So depending on fossil fuel does not seem to be a viable option for the future.

So, India’s challenge is to put together an energy supply system that will be successfully tackle the price and supply shortfalls of fossil fuels that we in all probability will confront in the future.
